FAQ — Yellowknife stay & aurora basecamp

Straight answers about the suite, house rules, location, and booking. Policies and final pricing appear at Lodgify checkout.

Is this a hotel or a full apartment?
It’s a private basement suite, not a hotel room or a shared hostel. The 1,114 sq ft suite is yours for the stay and never shared with other guests: a bedroom with a walk-in closet, a spacious lounge, a private bathroom with shower, a kitchenette (not a full kitchen) and a laundry room with washer and dryer, which the host also uses on weekends for up to 4 hours. See The Suite for the full list.
Are you the same as North of 60 Aurora Adventures?
No. North of Sixty Luxury Accommodation is a place to stay in Yellowknife, not a tour company. We don’t run or sell aurora tours, sky-dome experiences or dog-sledding. North of 60 Aurora Adventures is a separate tour operator; we list them only as a third-party option in our Yellowknife aurora guide.
Do you have a full kitchen?
Kitchenette only — a fridge, microwave and coffee machine for light meals, reheating, coffee, and snacks. Not a full kitchen.
How many guests can stay?
Up to 4 guests: 1 private bedroom suite, sleeps 4 (double bed, sofa bed and couch). The nightly rate covers the first guest, and each additional guest aged 2 or older is CAD $80 per night. Babies under 2 stay free and don’t count toward the 4-guest maximum. When you book, please don’t count a baby under 2 as a guest; just mention them in a message so we can set up the crib before you arrive. Pets aren’t allowed.
What’s included with the stay?
Driveway and street parking, Wi‑Fi, and streaming on the lounge TV: Netflix, Crave, Prime Video, Disney+ and Discovery+, each with a Guest profile already set up, so there’s no need to bring your own accounts. The Wi‑Fi login and driveway parking note are sent after booking through your booking channel.
Is there laundry?
Yes. The suite’s laundry room has a washer and dryer for guests. The host also uses it on weekends only, for up to 4 hours. Please don’t run laundry on checkout morning — leave used towels in the bathroom.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 3:00 PM. Check-out by 11:00 AM. Self check-in with smart lock — door codes arrive via your booking channel closer to arrival. We never publish codes or passwords on this website.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed.
Where exactly is the suite?
We publish Frame Lake South, Yellowknife, near downtown and YZF. The exact street address is shared after booking confirmation.
Do you guarantee Northern Lights?
No. We provide a comfortable licensed basecamp stay — not aurora from the windows. Viewing depends on conditions and your own tour or self-drive plans; see the aurora traveler guide for operator links.
Is the rental licensed?
Yes. It’s a short-term rental licensed by the City of Yellowknife; the licence number is at the bottom of every page.
Is it cheaper to book direct?
Yes. Airbnb, Booking.com and VRBO add their own channel fees to the total, so booking on our Book page gets you the best available rate. Direct bookings are processed through Lodgify + Stripe.
How do I book and pay?
Use the Booking Box on our Book page, or open Lodgify checkout (CAD). Payment is processed securely via Lodgify + Stripe. Cancellation terms are shown before you confirm.
What about rates?
Rates vary by date, length of stay, and guest count, and may include a cleaning fee, the extra-guest fee when applicable, and taxes such as GST and Yellowknife’s tourist accommodation tax (TAT). Checkout shows each line before you pay — we don’t treat “taxes included” as hiding TAT. The Lodgify booking widget and checkout are the source of truth.
Do you offer other Yellowknife properties?
This site features the Knutsen suite only (North of Sixty Luxury Accommodation · Private Bedroom).
How do I reach you?
WhatsApp messages: +1 587-882-6990, email bookings@staynorthofsixty.com.
What are the house rules?
Max 4 guests. No pets, no smoking/vaping indoors, no parties or events. Quiet hours 10:00 PM–7:00 AM. No shoes indoors (leave them in the mud room). Respect neighbours and report any damage. Full rules are sent with your booking confirmation.
Any tips for the TV and climate controls?
The lounge has an LG Smart TV with Apple TV. HomePod mini speakers support Siri for music and simple climate questions (for example, asking the temperature). In winter, the pellet stove and a space heater let you set the warmth you like.
What should I do at checkout?
By 11:00 AM: put used towels in the bathroom (please don’t run laundry), bag trash into the outdoor black (non-compostable) and green (compostable) bins, turn off lights/TV/heater, and lock the door.
How do I get around without a car?
Most everyday places are within about a 5 km radius of the Frame Lake South suite. Guests who are not driving can walk for nearby errands, use Yellowknife Transit, or take a taxi — Yellowknife has three taxi companies — book by app when you can (many international guests cannot dial local numbers; download apps over suite Wi‑Fi — login via your booking channel): City Cab (Android: Play Store; iPhone: call +1-867-873-4444), Yellowknife Cab (App Store / Play Store / app info; or +1-867-873-6666), and Aurora Taxi (Android: Play Store; or +1-867-873-5050). Guests can also hire a rental car at Yellowknife Airport (YZF) (Budget, Hertz, National — book ahead). Parking is available if you have a vehicle — driveway details are shared after booking.
